YMCA Swansea opens the event to mark the publication of Chief Inspector’s Report 2024-25(Estyn)

YMCA Swansea was proud to represent the Youthwork sector at the launch of the Estyn Chief Inspector’s Report 2024-25 on 11th February 2026. As well as featuring within the report itself, a video featuring the work at YMCA Swansea opened the well attended event at the Pierhead Buildings in Cardiff Bay. Attendees included Minister Of State for Education Lynne Neagle and Owen Evans, Chief Inspector.

Richard Williams, CEO of YMCA Swansea said of the event “This was not a tick box exercise but a recognition of the importance of Youthwork and evidence of the impact of the high standards of our professional approach. We all have our part to play in supporting Young People to flourish.”

The prestigious event witnessed a number of keynote speeches, sector videos and a discussion on both the successes and challenges facing education in Wales.

Carlie Torlop, Youth & Community Manager at YMCA Swansea highlighted the impact of Youth work in a question to the panel and the importance of a collaborative approach across all sectors was widely seen as the way forward.

Recognising the importance of Youthwork, Owen Evans concluded that “Youth services have again played a vital role in building confidence and resilience” in his report.
