Youth Chances 2014

YMCA Swansea is proud to offer Trans Awareness Training to schools, youth groups and professionals. We are passionate and committed to standing up for LGBTQ+ rights and strive to end discrimination for the future of Young People in the UK. We believe that by empowering children, young people and professionals, through increased knowledge it will help to create a LGBTQ+ inclusive ethos.

The training available was created in partnership between young LGBTQ+ people and YMCA Swansea. We are especially excited about delivering the training to groups of professionals so that we can equip services with the most up to date and relevant information, enabling them to be confident in supporting the gender diverse community and embracing all members of the LGBTQ+ population within their organisation. Education is the best tool for tackling racism and discrimination and building inclusive societies.

The content our training will cover: –

  • Trans Terminology
  • Identities
  • Sexuality
  • Gender Stereotypes
  • Use of Names
  • Coming Out
  • Transphobia
  • Hate Crime
  • Gender Dysphoria
  • Things not to say
